"Spotify for India", and now the company is preparing to compete more directly with Spotify and other Western digital music services, because it's launching Saavn English. Saavn has already launched in six languages, but co-founder Param Singh said English is particularly important. Until now, the company's real strength was Bollywood music, but he noted that, with 125 million English speakers, India has a big audience for Western music. Meanwhile, Spotify, Pandora, and Rdio have yet to launch there, so if they decide to come to India, Saavn should already have built up a big lead.
