Reduce Your Cholesterol Levels With Exercise! | New Health and ...

New Health And Fitness.Org - Health Information You Can Use

It doesn?t take a rocket scientist to figure out that exercise is one of the major components of improving one?s quality of life, even if there are those who would rather have their posterior parked somewhere doing nothing. Perhaps you are among the millions of Americans (try 90% of all American adults) who do not exercise at least thrice a week, thus neglecting its benefits or being simply uninformed about how regular exercise can be a great help. Well, consider this fact:

Close to a whopping 100 million adults in America have their total blood cholesterol stat at greater than 200 mg/dl (milligrams per deciliter), and 34.5 million Americans have that stat at 240 or greater. In adults, total cholesterol levels of 240 mg/dl or higher are considered high risk. As for those between 200 and 239 mg/dl, that would put you at a borderline-high risk of disease.

So what is the use of all those numbers in corroborating the necessity of exercise in our lives? I mean come on, dude, there has to be something that can connect exercise with lower cholesterol, right? Can?t we control high cholesterol levels with proper diet and/or medication? Think again.

A study released by the ?Journal of the American Medical Association? involved the analysis of 13,000 men and women over eight years. They were analyzed for different risk factors and potential causes of death, and the conclusion is as follows:

The data showed that an unfit man could reduce his risk of death from all diseases by some 37% and an unfit woman could reduce her risk by around 48%. The summary released based on the study showed that exercise was quite effective not only in reducing the chances of death from heart disease and other sicknesses, but also in reducing overall cholesterol levels.

Also, there have been studies conducted by the ?Centers for Disease Control?, and they have stated in no uncertain terms that people who do not exercise have a better chance of getting heart disease than people who have a regular exercise schedule.

One study done at the University of California showed that married men aged 35 to 65 who started a regular exercise program had more sexual intercourse with their wives and had more orgasms than those who did not exercise. (Rawrrrr?now that is one great reason why you, my friend, should grab a pair of jogging shorts and head to the gym post-haste!)

Our body has a lot of fats in its system, and cholesterol is just one of the many. Exercise can do a good job in burning the fat in our body, which is something that we should all be pretty aware of. So there you go ? exercise DOES result in lower cholesterol levels for any individual. But really, what type of exercise is best in burning off fat? The long and short answer is; any kind of exercise! Even walking regularly has been shown to reduce cholesterol levels.

If you really can?t avoid meat, it is certainly helpful if you reduce your intake of fattier meat cuts, and switch to dairy products with low-fat or fat-free content. Also, eating plenty of fruits and vegetables, particularly high fiber ones, coupled with a moderate exercise program will surly help you win the battle against high cholesterol.
