Fishing event in Michigan seeks to lure anglers of all ages ...

Portage, MI, United States (AHN Sports) ? With its summer recreation program proven to be a popular public draw, Portage?s Family Fishing Fair is seeking to attract fishing enthusiasts of all ages when this year?s event opens Saturday in Long Lake at Ramona Park.

It marks the unofficial start of the Portage Parks and Recreation 2012 Summer Program.

Apart from family bonding, the annual Family Fishing Fair provides a venue to learn some basic skills.

The said family event for all ages imparts information about fishing, boating and conservation activities, education and instruction. It allows participants to discover numerous resources available within the community.

Local fishing guides and experts as well as professional organizations will be at the event to share their expertise.

Participants will also get on-hand experience with fishing equipment made available, including fishing rod and reel for some youth anglers.

The annual Family Fishing Fair ushers in the start of the Portage Parks and Recreation Summer Programs.

It is one of the highlights of the city?s Summer Programs, which also include the opening of the Ramona Park Beach, the only lifeguard-protected public beach in the area.

Portage is a city in Kalamazoo County in the state of Michigan.
