Coronation Street cast pay tribute to tragic Sophiya Haque, who died two weeks after cancer diagnosis

Tributes to tragic actress Sophiya Haque have been pouring in from her former Coronation Street co-stars who learned the news that Sophiya had died yesterday.

41 year old Sophiya, who played the role of Rovers barmaid Poppy Morales on Corrie, was diagnosed with cancer just two weeks ago.

Antony Cotton, who plays Sean Tully, took to Twitter to say, ?Just on set and heard the news about Sophiya Haque. So effing sad. Night night kiddo x?

Michael Le Vell, who plays Kevin Webster, added, ?No way just heard about sophiya haque so sad. My heart goes out to the family.?

And Vicky Entwistle, who played the role of Janice Battersby, remarked, ?So upset that the beautiful actress Sophiya Haque has suddenly passed away at such a young age!

?All thoughts are with her loved ones. X?

The Mirror reports that BBC radio DJ Bobby Friction said, ?Very sad to say that my Bollywood Star fellow judge, corrie barmaid, accomplished actress & ray of light Sophiya Haque passed away today.

?Whilst filming Bollywood Star me & Sophiya Haque would retire to the hotel whilst she drank pints, laughed raucously & told anecdotes.?

A statement from ITV about the tragic news read, ?We are saddened to hear the terrible news of Sophiya?s death.

?She was a vibrant and beautiful actress who was a pleasure to have around during her time on Coronation Street.
