The Sony VAIO Duo returns

Sony?s Duo 13 is the same size as the previous model but packs a 30 per cent larger screen

Sony has unveiled its latest hybrid device, the VAIO Duo 13.

After taking on board some of the criticism of its 2012 offering, the Duo 11, the updated convertible features a clip to hold on to the stylus, a larger keyboard, a trackpad, and a 30 per cent larger screen.

Sony has managed to keep the Duo 13 the same size as the Duo 11, by cutting into the bezel to make up the extra screen space.

The battery life has been increased from five hours to 15 hours, which Sony claims is the longest battery life for any ultrabook currently on the market. The hinge has also been redesigned to be more robust than the Duo 11?s.

The hybrid stays connected to the internet during sleep mode and can still notify the user of new emails and social
media updates. The Duo 13 wakes from sleep mode in less than one second.

The device features a unique Surf Slider design, enabling users to easily switch between ?slate? and ?keyboard? styles. Slate mode is ideal for users wishing to draw, sketch or handwrite memos with the included pressure- sensitive stylus. Those needing to do some serious typing can slide the screen back up to reveal the keyboard while still using the multi-touch display when needed.

The VAIO Duo 13 sports an 8MP rear- facing camera with an ?Exmor RS for PC? sensor for sharply detailed images. The built-in CamScanner application tidies up your image, straightening wonky angles to ensure photos and scanned text stay straight and true.

Other features include up to 8GB SDRAM, 512GB SSD, 13.3-inch Full HD TRILUMINOS display, Intel HD Graphics 4400, and Intel Core i7 processor with Intel Turbo Boost Technology.

Selected VAIO Duo 13 models are bundled with an AC adapter-powered Wi-Fi router, which turns an ethernet connection into an on-the-go hotspot, ideal for when you?re struggling with wireless signals or working offsite. Users can connect up to five smartphones and tablets to the hotspot so all their devices can share the signal.
